Scientists have doing research for the benefit of the handicapped people especially physically challenged people for a quite some time now. With the advancement in the field of virtual reality, computer simulated environments could be used to help the handicapped (blind) people navigate through their surroundings. Keeping this idea in mind Google was the first mnc to start commercial research in the field of virtual & augmented reality with the scope of developing a display capable of handling virtual & augmented reality which can be used by normal & handicapped people. Scientists working on this project started their research on the basis on the eye-tap technology developed by Mr Steven Mann.after 3 years of hard work, Mr Babak Parviz, head of Google r&d dept & his team developed the spectacle working on combination of virtual reality & augmented reality which they called “Google glass”. The research project was called as project glass. Many new technology were embedded in the Google glass like smart clothing, smart grid etc.So basically Google glass is OHM-display with a wearable computer which can display information in a smart-phone like hands free format that can interact with the internet via regular voice commands.
