Ad hoc Sensor Network for Windmill Conditioning Monitoring and Control
Trupti A. Nawadkar –Terna Engineering College, Navi Numbai, India
Mankind has used the wind as a source of energy for several thousands of years. It was one of the most utilized sources of energy together with hydro power during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries . By the end of the 19th century the first experiments were carried out on the use of windmills for generating electricity. The international oil crisis of 1972 initiated the utilization of renewable resources on a large scale, wind power among others. Today, wind power is a fully established branch on the electricity market and it is treated accordingly.
I have designed and developed a prototype system for monitoring parameters namely current, voltage and speed from windmill, can transfer the data to server pc through wireless sensor network for further analysis. Such a monitoring system developed using ZigBee wireless technology which is very suitable to be used in hostile environment.
